The File Shredder Story
File Shredder began when our team realized that existing file security solutions all had one critical flaw: they required trust. Whether it was trusting a cloud provider, trusting encryption keys weren't backdoored, or trusting that deleted meant deleted—users always had to trust someone else with their data.
We asked ourselves: what if users didn't have to trust anyone? What if file security could be achieved entirely on the user's own device, with no external dependencies?
The answer was File Shredder—a browser extension that fragments files into encrypted chunks, stores them locally, and ensures that without the extension, those fragments are meaningless noise. It's security through fragmentation, powered by modern browser capabilities.
