1. Overview

US Support LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the File Shredder browser extension. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use File Shredder.

The fundamental principle of File Shredder is that we do not collect, store, or have access to your files or personal data. File Shredder operates entirely within your browser, and all file processing happens locally on your device.

2. Our Zero-Knowledge Commitment

File Shredder is built on a zero-knowledge architecture, which means:

  • All file processing occurs locally in your browser
  • No files are ever uploaded to our servers
  • We cannot see, access, or recover your files
  • No user tracking or analytics are implemented
  • No personal information is collected

This design ensures your complete privacy and gives you full control over your data.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

File Shredder does not collect:

  • Any files you shred or manage
  • File names, contents, or metadata
  • Personal identification information
  • Usage statistics or analytics
  • IP addresses or location data
  • Browser history or cookies
  • Any form of user behavior data

3.1 Website Information

When you visit our website (fileshredder.net), our web hosting provider may collect standard server logs, which could include:

  • IP addresses
  • Browser type
  • Referring pages
  • Date and time of visit

This information is used solely for maintaining website security and performance.

3.2 Support Communications

If you contact us for support at websupport@ussupportllc.com, we will only use your email address to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing lists without your explicit consent.

4. How Your Data is Stored

All data created by File Shredder is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage APIs:

  • IndexedDB: Used to store file fragments
  • Chrome Storage: Used for extension settings

This data:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is only accessible through the File Shredder extension
  • Is deleted when you uninstall the extension
  • Cannot be accessed by us or any third party

Important Note: File Shredder creates encrypted fragments of your files but does NOT delete or modify your original files. Users are responsible for manually deleting original files after shredding if they wish to remove the unencrypted versions from their system.

5. Extension Permissions

File Shredder requests the following Chrome permissions:

5.1 Storage Permission

Used to store shredded file fragments locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.

5.2 Unlimited Storage Permission

Allows you to shred files of any size without storage quotas. All storage remains local to your device.

5.3 Downloads Permission

Enables you to download reconstructed files back to your computer.

5.4 Host Permissions

Required for the file viewer functionality to display certain file types. No external connections are made.

Important: These permissions are used solely for the stated purposes and do not grant us any access to your data.

6. Third-Party Services

File Shredder does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services, including:

  • No analytics services (Google Analytics, etc.)
  • No advertising networks
  • No social media integrations
  • No cloud storage services
  • No external APIs

6.1 Chrome Web Store

When you install File Shredder from the Chrome Web Store, Google may collect installation statistics. This is outside our control and governed by Google's privacy policy.

7. Security Measures

File Shredder implements multiple security measures:

  • All file processing uses secure, cryptographically random algorithms
  • Files are fragmented into randomized chunks
  • No network connections are established
  • Content Security Policy prevents external resource loading
  • Regular security audits of our codebase

Since your data never leaves your device, the primary security responsibility lies with your device's security.

8. Children's Privacy

File Shredder is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal information, this protection is inherently built into our service.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of File Shredder after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We will never change our fundamental commitment to zero-knowledge architecture and local-only data processing without clear notice and user consent.
